10 UP pantries to receive refrigeration units for fresh food

Ten Upper Peninsula food pantries, including sites in Newberry, Sault Ste. Marie, Crystal Falls, Ishpeming, Escanaba, and Marquette, are receiving refrigeration units and additional support this year through the Food Pantry Grant Program. Superior Health Foundation is one of four partners funding the program alongside Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, United Dairy Industry of Michigan, and Blue Cross Complete of Michigan, investing $250,000 statewide to help 50 pantries expand access to fresh food.

"This funding helps U.P. residents who rely on food pantries get the nutrition they need, along with more choice in the foods available to them," said Megan Murphy, SHF CEO.
