Superior Health Foundation Gala supports nonprofits promoting health in times of need

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Yoopers far and wide dressed to the nines on Saturday to support their fellow community members in need.

More than 400 people gathered in Marquette from all corners of the U.P. for the 14th annual Superior Health Foundation Gala.

The event took place at the Northern Michigan University Northern center.

The elegant evening supported Trillium House and Mariucci Family Beacon House.

Guests enjoyed dinner and a fun night out all while promoting a good cause. CEO Megan Murphy says the Superior Health Foundation Gala will raise at least $80,000 to split between the two nonprofits.

Murphy said Mariucci Family Beacon House will use the gala funds to support its family meals program.

“Which provides healthy, nutritious meals to people while they’re experiencing a medical emergency and staying at Beacon House, then Trillium House will be using the funds for their Dan Mazzuchi care fund,” Murphy added. “That supports individuals who need end of life care but may not be able to afford to stay there, and then also provides respite for caregivers.”

A golden ticket raffle and silent auction also raised money for the organizations throughout the night. Murphy said both nonprofits do important work in line with SHF’s mission to improve health and wellbeing in the U.P.
