'Cash for moms and babies' program now available in all Upper Peninsula counties

UPPER PENINSULA, Mich. (WBUP/WJMN) — Previously only available to Yoopers in the eastern Upper Peninsula, the free prenatal and infant cash program, Rx Kids, is now open to all U.P. families.
The program calls itself a "prenatal and infant cash prescription program" that provides mothers with $1,500 during pregnancy, and babies with $500 per month for 6 months after birth.

Starting Monday, March 1, families who are expecting (must be at least 16 weeks pregnant) or with a baby born March 1, 2026, or later and reside in Baraga, Delta, Dickinson, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, Marquette, Menominee, and Ontonagon counties can apply.
